Literary giant Daniel Defoe led a very interesting life: aside from being a writer, he was also a merchant and a spy. A Nonconformist, he was an immediate target of Queen Anne and was arrested on account of his pamphlet, “The Shortest-Way with the Dissenters”. Out of desperation, he accepted espionage work from the English government’s spymaster, Robert Harley, who was the First Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer. This led him to publish “The Review”, a periodical focused on social and political commentary, which pioneered modern journalism.

He didn’t always write about politics, but his authentic voice produced the novel “Robinson Crusoe”, said to have given birth to the realistic fiction genre. In honor of his achievements, Montblanc released the Writers Edition Daniel Defoe, which is mostly inspired by Crusoe’s adventures. It has a silhouette resembling the oar he used to escape the island he was shipwrecked on, visual texture mimicking wood grain, patterns taken from the original book cover, and a feather clip symbolizing Crusoe’s parrot.

We have for sale a brand-new Montblanc Writers Edition Daniel Defoe complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
