The dragon, a mythical creature representing the seat of the emperor in China and considered a powerful guardian deity in Japan, is the inspiration for the Namiki Emperor Chinkin Dragon, a large pen designed and signed by artisan Yasuji Sumi of the Kokkokai collective. It features chinkin or gold inlay, a lacquering technique that requires carefully carving the design before inlaying the grooves with gold. This painstaking art form creates gorgeous detail, as seen in the design’s intricacies and sense of depth. To match this large-sized pen is a No. 50, 18-karat gold nib that offers a deliciously smooth writing experience.
We have for sale a brand-new Namiki Emperor Chinkin Dragon with an M nib. It comes complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
