Kabuto is the helmet that samurai wear as part of their armor. More than its protective function, the kabuto is also a representation of one’s identity, as it showcases symbols such as family crests and carved animals that reflect a samurai’s prowess in battle.

In modern times, the kabuto is remembered in a more wholesome way during Children’s Day, which is celebrated yearly on May 5th. Children make kabuto origami hats to wear in celebration of health and happiness. In honor of this tradition, Namiki produced the Origami Kabuto fountain pen created by the artist collective Kokkokai using the Hira Maki-e technique. It features folded paper samurai hats surrounded by pinwheels being blown by a gentle breeze.

We have for sale a brand-new Namiki Origami Kabuto with a 14-karat gold nib in F. It comes complete with box, papers, and other inclusions.
