Native to Asia, Mandarin ducks are shy birds that enjoy the shade of overhanging willows and are said to have one mate for life. Known as “yuanyang” in Chinese and “oshidori” in Japanese, they are symbols of peace, fidelity, harmony, and fertility.
The Pilot Mandarin Ducks fountain pen features the colorfully crowned male and his brown-gray female partner swimming on calm waters. Crafted and signed by Yasunori Sakamoto, it features Raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) and Togidashi-Taka Maki-e (burnished raised maki-e) techniques. It has an 18-karat Pilot gold nib in Fine. This Yukari-sized pen has long been discontinued and is an older model than the Emperor Mandari Ducks fountain pen on the Namiki website.
Length capped: 14.2 cm.
