“Ryusui” directly translates as “flowing water”, but it can mean anything from running tap water to water flowing down a river. In art, ryusui-mon is a pattern depicting graceful waves and ripples, usually with flowers and butterflies.
The Parker highlights ryusui-mon in a rare Maki-e fountain pen release. The limited-edition Duofold Maki-E Ryusui “Flowing Water” is only available in Japan, and it features small, flowing streams using raden interspersed with gold powder and sealed with urushi.
