Before Pelikan became a renowned pen maker, it was first an ink company. In early 1838, Carl Hornemann started a factory in Hanover, Germany, which later expanded in 1881. Pelikan then began producing Indian ink to wide acclaim, and as part of their marketing strategy, they began the first poster-making competition in 1898, with a successful turnout of approximately 500 entries.

The poster competition became a tradition and created a library of gorgeous artwork from beginner and professional artists alike. These are now being used as inspiration for the special Art Collection fountain pen line, which began its release in 2023, starting with the M600 Glauco Cambon, inspired by the work of one who enjoyed art in advertising.

The M600 Glauco Cambon lifts colors from his 1909 competition entry featuring a line of pelicans on a lake at night, as if illuminated by colorful lamps. The resin on the barrel was made in such a way that the colors seem holographic, something never seen on a Souverän before, with gold trims framing the design against a black piston knob, section, and cap.

We have for sale a brand-new Pelikan M600 Art Collection Glauco Cambon (2023) complete with its box, papers, and other inserts.
