In Japan, the Narcissus flower (a.k.a. “daffodil”) is commonly called “suisen”, but it also has another name—”setchuka”, which means “flower in the snow”. It is one of the first to bloom at the end of winter, announcing the arrival of spring. Although not native to Japan, it has adapted to the climate over the past 700 years and now grows wild in certain areas. In “hanakotoba” or the language of flowers, it symbolizes respect.
The Narcissus flower is featured on the Pilot Hira Maki-e Narcissus fountain pen sealed with urushi and fitted with a 14-karat gold nib. We have for sale a brand-new unit with an F nib, complete with its box, papers, and other inclusions.
