The Sailor 1911L was created in 2011 to mark the company’s centennial. “L” stands for “Large”, and it’s literally a larger version of pens from the classic 1911 line, which was a popular workhorse due to its high quality but fair pricing. While the 1911 was slim and carried a 14-karat gold nib, the 1911L had more girth and carried a 21-karat gold nib. Similar to its predecessor, the 1911L was also made from resin and came in different colors and several maki-e variations.
