Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s 1887 painting Japonaiserie Oiran, the Visconti Van Gogh Oiran celebrates the Dutch artist’s fascination with Japanese ukiyo-e prints. Based on a woodblock print by Japanese artist Kesai Eisen, Van Gogh’s interpretation reflects the influence of Japanese art on his work during the late 1880s.
